Welcome to Whistle Art Stop

Grants for the Arts

NAD logo

This year has started with the daunting task of reluctantly moving out of Scarth's Yard in Haltwhistle where we have been resident for just over four years. Unfortunately, this year we have been unsuccessful in most of our grant applications to support our ongoing work. However, we are still committed to delivering workshops to the community in Haltwhistle, so new plans are in the making. In addition to this, our direction has changed to cover more areas of Northumberland and now Durham and not to be based in one property. With this news, we are delighted to announce our new partnership with Fine Studio CIC at Kiln Pit Hill http://finehousefarm.com at their newly refurbished Studio and Gallery space.

Do come along if you can and see this amazing new space, converted from a factory warehouse and the old milking parlour. Chat with resident artists Alison Raimes and Fiona Carvell about their plans for running workshops from their new studios. In addition, the Whistle Art Stop will be moving their headquarters to Alison's studio in a few weeks time and exciting plans with their new partners at Fine Studios to deliver a wide variety of art workshops across Northumberland and Durham are in the making.

Art Club

Our youth work varies from all types of art including photography to computer training. Here is Ben working on his Bronze Arts Award.

Every year we participate in the 'Big Draw'. It's a Family Fun Day with lots of different types of art to learn and do.

Recycle, recycle and recycle some more - that's our art promise to the environment.

'Wor Space' is a project converting the wasteland around the Whistle Art Stop into a community garden. Here are the young people at work making planters to grow vegetables in.

We have won two awards from Love Northumberland for our community work to date and an invite to the Queen's Garden Party!

Our lead artists are all DBS checked but we ask that any young people under 8 be accompanied by their parents. He's only acting, by the way!
