Jo Hislop, Fintan Dawson and Peter Hanmer
artists in residence

We are pleased to introduce the three artists selected to join the Whistle Art Stop's Graduate residency programme. They will each spend time in Haltwhistle during April and May and will be working towards a group exhibition later this year.

Jo Hislop lives in Newcastle and has a First Class BA (Hons) in Photograph from University of West England. Her work explores the feeling and energy behind experiences and uses photography to consider our relationship with memory, through the small fragmented moments that make up our lives.

Fintan Dawson lives in Newcastle and has a BA (Hons) in Contemporary Photographic Practice from Northumbria University and his key themes are heritage, legacy and cultural identity. He looks to interrogate the way things used to be by looking for traces of the past within the present; to see what influence or legacy it has left on our everyday lives and landscapes.

Peter Hanmer lives in Alnwick, Northumberland and has a BA (Hons) in Fine Art from the University for the Creative Arts Farnham. Peter works in a variety of different mediums but currently primarily makes sculptural works out of animal bones large and small. The work revolves around a range of political, philosophical, environmental, and social themes such as extinction, power, ideological extremes, short-termism and apocalypse.

The artists will get the opportunity work alongside experienced practitioners and access to professional development workshops. They will also have the opportunity to train as an Arts Award advisor at Discover; Explore, Bronze and Silver levels.
