Call for proposals.

Whistle Art Stop are delighted to announce the launch of their Graduate Exhibition Programme which aims to showcase the most talented emerging artists from across the North East.

Having been awarded funding by Arts Council England and Northumberland Arts Development (led by Queens Hall Arts and funded by Northumberland County Council), the organisation is looking to transform the existing SHED exhibition space into an innovative contemporary art space that will support an ambitious programme of exhibitions and events, aimed at increasing participation and dialogue around current artistic practices.

This opportunity is open to individuals and groups of artists who have graduated in the last 5 years.  To apply please send a CV, artist’s statement, 5 images of your work or a link to your website as well as an outline of your proposal (250 words max) showing how it will benefit your practice to Louise Winter
email: exhibitions@whistleartstop.org

Arts Award

Arts Award

This month, we also became an Arts Award Centre and started work on a collaborative project with Northern Print and Berwick Visual Arts.

Young people aged between 11 and 25 are being given the opportunity to join an exciting print project and gain Bronze and Silver levels in Arts Award. See our website for more information on this and contact us if you would like to participate.

Will Nicholls

This month we are delighted to welcome Will Nicholls to the gallery. Will is an 18 year old wildlife photographer from Haydon Bridge. He will be joining the University of Exeter to study zoology next year.

Will Nicholls

Will's book "on the trail of the Red Squirrel" can be bought from the Whistle Art Stop and we have a selection of his photographs, greetings cards, calender and notepads available. Drop in and see the work of this talented young man.

Big Draw 2013

If you missed it this year then why not come along on Saturdays for our regular Family Arts and SMARTZ club sessions? 10-3pm everyone over 5yr olds is welcome. Try your hand at drawing with different materials; clay modelling; air brushing or lino printing amongst the many creative activities that we do.

Xmas Cards

The Saturday Morning Art Club (SMARTZ) are raising money to buy materials and resources for their club through selling hand printed Xmas cards and other gifts made on Saturday mornings. Everything is available through the gallery/gift shop. They also have a stall at Haltwhistle Late Night shopping on Friday 29th Nov; at Coanwood Xmas Fair on 1st Dec; at Crackers Soft Play on Fri Dec 6th and at Greenhead Xmas Market on 8th Dec. PLEASE support them.

A huge thanks to Northumberland County Council 'Community Chest' for awarding us £2,250 to solve our heating problems in the SHED. We are currently installing a new system as a result, so that we can continue to run workshops and events in the SHED through the cold winters.
