graduate art programme 2004/15

funded by Arts Council England and Northumberland Arts Development, our Graduate Art Programme 2014/15 launches this month with a new residency programme 'Hit the Ground Running'. Successful applicants who have graduated from an arts based degree in the last three years are invited to work with Alan Smith and Helen Ratcliffe at Allenheads Contemporary Arts and Alison Raimes at the Whistle Art Stop, in a scheme that promotes professional development through mentoring and workshops. through Arts Award young people gain a nationally recognised qualification enabling them to progress into further education and employment. Arts Award has five levels, four of which (Explore, Bronze, Silver, Gold) are accredited qualifications on the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF). Arts Award Discover is an introductory level.

We invite applications aged 11-25 for this year's Bronze and Silver level arts award. Workshops are held on Saturday afternoons and Tuesday evenings. Please contact us on 01434 320800 for more information

wor space

wor space is a new community led initiative using the waste land around the Whistle Art Stop to develop a green initiative where people can design, build, plant and grow. The group meet initially on Saturdays while the area is being cleared and raised beds are being built. They need your help! If you are interested in being part of this exciting new project, please drop in on Saturdays between 10 and 2pm.

join us between 12 and 3pm and use our space! Someone is always on hand if you need help or just enjoy being in a friendly, relaxed arts environment that inspires and motivates exploration.

tuesday computer arts

after school digital arts club open to ages 11+. Booking essential as places are limited. Cost £2 per person.

saturday art club

every Saturday 10 - 2pm for all ages and abilities. Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult and over 8 must have a parental form signed. £2 per person.

the big draw 2014

a great family arts day supported with funds from Northumberland Arts Development, with something for everyone to explore. Our partners and friends, Tyne Rivers Trust joined us with their river simulator to give us hands on experience of the bugs that exist in the local rivers. As the theme was 'It's our world' we titled our day 'The Ugly Bug Ball'! From digital arts to charcoal drawing to chalk drawings on the ground we had a fun filled day. See the images here

we currently have a space for one professional artist to join our busy gallery & shop. The space is rented at £10 per month and no commission is charged on any sales.
