Welcome to Whistle Art Stop

October 2013 Newsletter

What a busy month we had in September and as we now celebrate the work done by the talented young people in Haltwhistle with an exhibition of their art, this month is proving to be just as busy. In addition to this, we have had the news that an application to the Arts Council England and Northumberland Arts Development (led by Queens Hall Arts and funded by Northumberland County Council) has been accepted. This means that we can start our graduate programme that has been in development for the last year and look forward to a year of showcasing new, fresh art in Haltwhistle.

A celebration of the work done by the young people at the SMARTZ Club and the After School Club is currently underway in the SHED. Printing, painting, collage, clay modelling, sketch books, and much more all showcase the diverse art that has been produced by the talented young people of Haltwhistle. With a generous grant from Christ's Hospital in Sherburn, we have been able to run the after school club for a year now but that grant ends at the end of October. We are actively sourcing more funding to continue this work.  Please do come along and see the exhibition before it closes on the 19th October.

We are delighted to announce that we are launcing a pilot graduate programme. Supported using public funding by Arts Council England and Queens Hall Arts with further support from Haltwhistle Town Council. We will be working with Dot to Dot's Director, Stephen Pritchard, Allenheads Contemporary Arts and Neon Arts in Hexham to put together a programme of events and exhibitions that will support our committment to graduate artists.
